My wife retired after 24 years active duty. She signed up at 16 after finishing school early. She was so young she had to get a waiver to sign up and was not eligible to serve overseas for 1 more year.

And I would like to share that 10 years ago today I retired after 20 years active duty.

I think it is cool that we both retired on the same day even though they were separate years. She was and still is a great mentor. A fine NCO. Way more patient than I ever was.

Our oldest son has taken over. He has been in about 5 years now and has E5 on. He is a fast burner compared to me. He definitely took after his Mom.

I remember a phone call one evening after he graduated High School. A Army recruiter was asking for my son. I told the recruiter his Mother & Father both retired from the AF and even though I respected the Army very much they didn't have a chance because my Son had Strata Blue in his blood. He is currently deployed to Qatar. He had to leave his wife and 1 year old behind. I sure remember how that felt. I am so proud of him.

Thanks for letting me share these special memories with you.
