I do not have a .45-70 mold made for gas checks . But if I some day buy one , do you use the gas checks made for .45 hand gun bullets ?

Thanks ,

Well Hornady only shows one 45 call GC .

And I use that one on my 45 cal rifle bullets . I also load for the 45 Colt but all my moulds for that round are plain base . To be perfectly honest I see no reason they shouldn't work !

I use the same 30 cal checks for both the 30-30 and 32-20 !

If you check out the Gator Check Group Buys you'll find both .45 pistol and .45 rifle checks available.

If you have some of yours cast, maybe you could measure the diameter of the gas check portion and see which one you need. I don't remember off hand the difference, but I do believe there is a difference.

If you only have pistol size checks and need some a bit larger, you could anneal the checks you have and then use a ball bearing of the right size to expand the skirt of yours to fit the larger rifle boolits.
