At the range------4 of us shooting bowling pins and steel silhouette animals------made my own when I had access at the steel company with panograph burning----a long time ago----stay on subject------shooting M 1 carbines----various pistol calibers----that's when I bring out the 351-----they look and hold it and all say----what is it and where can I get one---and they thought a 357 magnum could move a bowling pin----this can move it a touch more----it looks really serious with the 10 round factory mag--------next week I will bring out the big spring rifle---Model 81 35 Remington---love these old ones

If you think the 10 rounder looks serious for the 351 the you will really like the 10 rounder for the 35 rem. lol IIRC it is Goodsteel that has one.

Yes---I guess back in the day----there was a place I believe in Missouri and a shop right around the corner from me here in Michigan that would modify Model 8 and 81's to accept large capacity magazine-----there were ahead of their time

the winchester self loading rifles are an obsession of mine .I do have the whole family of them .I did 4 conversions on some derilict ones and a 1910 that will shoot 357 mag and the hotter 360 Dan Wesson cartridge ,this is nice as it will fire commercial 357 mag off the shelf and hand loaded 360 DW

I took my first deer with a Winchester Model 07 .351 W.S.L. almost 30 years ago. I had owned it literally less than 24 hours. Bought it one morning, fired it at some targets that same afternoon, and took it into the woods the following morning. One shot. Meat on the table.

It wasn't until some years later that I read, from the pen of several so-called "authorities" on the subject, that the .351 was considered inadequate for deer-sized game.
So much for the authorities.

My brother gave me a 1907 because he had been messing with one and I'm more of a handloading geek than he is, so it was to be a parallel load development kind of thing.

Anyway, I found brass easily enough. I lucked into a .351 mold designed for the older .35 WSL. Some plain based gas checks and a .352 Sizer from Buckshot and I was in business. I still don't own a set of dies, a set of .38 Super and a set of .357 Magnum dies worked to make suitable ammo.

Mine is D&t'd for scope mounts so it wears an old Weaver K4. I loaded it with 2400, though they say 4227 is the best powder going. I wouldn't hesitate to deer hunt with it out to 100 yards, it's certainly accurate enough and pushing nearly .35 Remington ballistics.
