I had only ever killed the Osceola before this. I killed this bird in SW GA. He had two beards, one eight inch and one five inch.

Congrats! That's a special bird, with two beards. I killed my first Eastern in my own backyard, it was a jake, shot during our fall season. I own 4 acres, but I'm surrounded by over 300 acres of woods and farmland, so my place is just a traveling corridor.

Congratulatons Tim. Which one do you think is the hardest to hunt?

I've always heard the Oceola is more weary.

Congrats! I used to live in SE, GA and miss the turkey hunting there.

I don't think the Osceola is smarter, but he lives in a very small range and gets lots of pressure. This leads to harder hunting.

Sweet! I'm trying to get my first turkey this season. Went out Wednesday morning and had a big Tom within 100 yards but wouldn't come any closer. What gun and load did you use, shot distance?

Remington 1187 12ga with Remington 3" Nitro #4's. The shot was about 20 yards.
