I did a search and it appears to be something used in co$metic$. At that point, the interest failed.

Lumiere Cosmetics Pure Silk Powder. (http://www.lumierecosmetics.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=51&pg=1) This pure silk powder is sold by Lumiere Cosmetics and is considered mineral makeup. It retails at $10 for 4g and $18 for 12g. I tried this too and its really good stuff. You can use it as a primer before foundation, or as a loose finishing powder after foundation. It seals in moisture so your skin doesn’t look dry and flakey but it also helps make your skin less oily. I never had to touch up or blot once throughout the day. I’m reviewing this as a separate review soon so watch out for it.

No silly, It seals in moisture so your boolit doesn’t look dry and flaky

I'm sorry , i just had to say that..I see one disadvantage that just won't go away, the cost is way up there. Anytime you use something for cosmetics the cost goes up 50 times it's worth..Now if you can find it before it's labeled for cosmetics maybe the cost will be low enough to use and experiment with. I'm guessing it is some kind of ground up mineral.

This can't be it. That's about $30 an ounce or $180 for the 6 ounces in the recipe. Might as well just gold leaf each boolet.

I think it's literally what the OP said it is: powdered silk. I found this: http://www.newdirectionsaromatics.com/silk-powder-200-mesh-p-557.html

It's $50 per pound at that site; still too rich for my blood.
