Hi:

I just bought a Model 1892 Winchester in 32/20 with a 24 inch octagon barrel and would like to hear about different loads that you may have used.

Thanks,

Terry

I was shooting a 32-20 from a contender. I had good accuracy using 231.

I have the same model M92 with a 'frosted' bore. For loads I like the following all with Lyman's 311008 cast from WW+2% tin, sized to 0.311" and seated to an OAL of 1.610":

3.3 gr Bullseye with Win Sm Pistol
7.0 gr of Blue Dot with Win Sm Rifle
9.0 gr of SR4759 with Win Sm Rifle
4.4 gr of Win 231 with Win Sm Pistol

No chrono data for the above, but all will do 1.5" at 50 yds with a tang peep.

As always, these are my loads, safe in my rifle, but you should consult a good manual and work up to them considering pressure and safety issues as you proceed.

Great rifle in a great caliber. I shoot RCBS 98SWC, NOE 314316GC, NOE 314008PB, and occasionally an old single cavity Lyman 311008. Unique is your friend for all-around loads in the 32-20, and performs quite well with the fore-mentioned bullets, 3.5 gr up to 5.5 gr. Alliant 2400 is always a good choice for rifle loads, as is IMR 4198 and 4227. If you want more detail let me know as I would be happy to help. JW
