Going through the 2nd box of a recently acquired estate I found this priming tong tool (pictured under 310 tong tool) with large and small threaded priming rods (pretty much a turned down bolt). Anybody know who made it? there are ZERO markings on it. I've looked around but can't seem to find anything close to it, and it does indeed seem to serve the only purpose of priming cases. It does have removable bushings and seems to be set up for 45/70 or such rimmed cases right now. The name plate looking thingy in the one picture is actually the spring/pin combo that allows you to change bushings. Different but effective.

I don't know who made it, but it has to be the most over engineered and beautifully built thingee around......especially for a single purpose!

Why not try the antique reloading tool forum?

Looks like a custom made priming tool. Probably for reloading at the range.

Bench rest shooters often have custom made tools that they use at their matches.

Im betting its a one off from a machinist or tool maker who also shot alot possibly benchrest or shutzen where loading on the range is popular.

I guess the big question is do you have or can you make bushings for different cartridge families?

It does look to be a well made tool, how comfortable is it to use?

I can make bushings for it easily, simple lathe project for sure as. It seems easy to use, I tried it with a few 45-70 cases and spent primers and they seated just fine the nice thing is adjustable seating depth.
