Hi all,

I was finally able to get some time in with my CVA Mountain Rifle. I was shooting 530 RBS with mattress ticking lubed with my wax concoction I use for felt wads. No blow through on any patches - so that is working well enough. I fouind that ~70 grains of Goex FFG worked pretty well for target shots - I only shot at 25 yards but managed to have 3 holes touching and about 4 others within 1 1/2 - considering the blade sight I consider that very good for me. I find it to be a more comfortable shooter than my TC Encore 209x50 - even shooting the same 70 grain load. Cleanup is a snap - though I have a heck of a time getting the staining off the barrel from the caps.

Next up for the gun is browning the barrel and other metal parts - I just received a bottle of the Laurel Mountain Browning and Degreaser.

Just wanted to share

Thanks again Pipefitter - they work perfectly - need to work up a decent target load and standardize on the patch and patch lube - then work on my hunting load. I went through about 40 rounds on Sunday - lots of fun, had my Uberti 1851 London out, the TC and my CVA vest pocket derringer (32 caliber) went through a bunch of powder and had a great time. Was up past midnight cleaning all four of the guns.

Go to a place called Track of the wolf and type in Flash Cups.

You need to shoot 50 grains of powder, I won a bunch of matches with one of those rifles, mine preferred 3FFFg and 50 grains under .490 RB and 18 thousandths pillow ticking, lubed with Dutch Shultz lube, shot very clean, and I shot some perfect scores at 25yds, 48 out of 50 at 50ys offhand! I put regular primitive sights, as the originals did not want to stay put.
