anyone have experience with using thick wads (i have circle fly 1/2" wads) for a reduced (less powder, less recoil) .45-70 bp load?

any loading or accuracy issues?

bullet will most likely be the lyman #457193 that drops at 415 grains.

tia, much obliged.

I have used a tall wad stack in a 45-100 to reduce recoil. Make sure your brass is very clean on the inside or a wad stack can grip and pull it into.

You can place PufLon ballistic filler on top of the powder, with a wad beneath the bullet. Shoots great.
