The guns on a #2 frame which is about as small a frame as they regularly made a 10 gauge . Gun has 30" Damascus barrels choked modified and improved modified . I shot a round of skeet with it last week for the first time and managed an acceptable 22 of 25 . I also tried it on the pattern board with my handloaded #0 Buck loads and it did wonderfully at 25 yards from both barrels .

My trio of Parker double 10's !

At the top the circa 1889 EH #2 frame , in the middle my Grade 2 #3 frame top lever hammer gun circa 1884 and the one on the bottom my circa 1882 Grade 2 #3 frame lifter hammer gun !

Shot skeet last Wednesday with the top lever and broke 23 of 25 that ones choked IC/M with 32" barrels . I also patterned the lifter gun Wednesday with my handloaded #0 Buck loads and it shot some really really tight patterns at 25 yards from both barrels . This one is 30" IC/M as well .

In the trio pics all but the last were taken with an I Phone 6 and the last with my ten year old Nikon Coolpix digicam . I actually think the phone takes better pics .

If my memory serves the pics in the first post were taken with the IP 6 as well .

That old 1889 gun had two slight issues when I first got it . One being a dent in the right barrel that was slightly visible on the inside and the other being a slightly buggered screw on the floorplate right in front the trigger guard .

I straightened out the dent yesterday using a friends barrel dent puller yesterday . It's still visible on the outside but imperceptible on the inside . The screw I'll have to deal with , if only one screw on the whole gun is buggered so be it .

I plan on loading some more shells this weekend so I can shoot a round of skeet and a round of trap with the EH next Wednesday . But this time I wanna try 1 1/8 ounce loads instead of my normal 1 1/4 ounce loads . Change the bushing and add an additional undershot card wad and it oughtta be good .

Nice Parkers ! I go for smaller myself but that is a beauiful collection. You should watch for the Vintage Skeet shoots, lots of nice doubles show up on the fields actually being shot. There should be several shoots near you. Just got back for the Vintage World at Gator Trap and Skeet in Florida. A grand time had by all :)

To me, the best thing about you 10ga sxs is they are still good shooters and not wall hangers. This speaks volumes about the craftsmen at Parker and the care given your guns by yourself and the previous owners.

That EH gun was made the first full year of production for a hammerless Parker in 1889 . That gun is in really good condition other then the two small things I mentioned earlier . But I've had that gun maybe 10 days at the most .

I've killed deer akready with the 1884 top lever hammergun shooting hand loaded buckshot . This coming season I hop to do the same with the 1882 lifter gun and the EH . That EH will also be my main goose gun hence forth or atleast until I get another EH on a #3 frame with 32" F/F barrels . Just hate spending the money for Bismuth shot to reload for the geese .

Went out today and shot one round of skeet and one round of trap with the EH ended up with a combined 45 of 50 . That unto itself isn't that great until one realizes I was pulling for myself by stepping on the pickle .

Also tried it on the pattern board with handloaded 000 and 00 Buck . This old gun seems to like my buckshot handloads !

Made a deal last week for a circa 1912 Parker VH 12 gauge on a #2 frame with 32" full and fuller chocked barrels . This I hope will be a good gun for the side by side event at the VA State Trap Shoot this year . Gun also has an english straight grip stock and sad to say two pins in the wrist area .

The pics I posted are from the GB auction .

Do you shoot the vintage skeet events also? Gainsville Fla. next March, and they have a bunker too, opps make that trench!

I shoot very little competition of any kind anymore .
Most of the stuff for side by sides in my area is sporting clays . And sporting clays to a person that shot skeet and trap for years is kind of an excercise in futility . By that I mean trap and skeet shooters have a mind set to go 100 straight and anyone who's played the shotgun games knows 100 straight on a sporting course is like finding a needle in a hay stack .

I would love it if there were side by side events for skeet and trap more often in my area . I might even give thought to a little competition again ;-)

Gun turned out to be in better condition then I anticipated . Case colors were still noticable on the action , bores are mirrors , under the trigger guard the stock serial numbers to the gun . Overall the gun was much much nicer then anticipated the stock dimensions also were very modern shall we say LOP was 14 5/8" , drop at the comb was 1 3/4" and drop at the heel was 2" .

Wow, looks even better in your pics! I would love to find one like that , lever is still rt of center, WOW\, everyone I come across rattles! With those stock dimensions it should point right well for you. My passion is the old pumps, M12, M31, and M17s but I am on the lookout for a nice hammer double in 16 ga. Savin pennies for it :)

Maybe you can still have occasional visits :) Gotta take care of the friends, and it's still gonna be breaking targets. Maybe I will meet him at a shoot.

If you go to the Southern Side by Side in Sanford NC next year you might see him . Heck with a wee bit of luck I might be there ! I still have a pair of Parker VH and VHE 12 gauge 30" guns I could always use in the 12 gauge hammerless event !

I will check that out, but I fear my Stevens 311 may be a bit "underdressed" :)

Getting ready to do the buckshot loading for my Parker 10 gauge 2 7/8".
Already know it'll be 8 of the 000 Buck pellets per shell and I think 6 9mm cases full of Grex .
For the 00 Buck it'll be 12 pellets and 6 9mm cases of Grex and the same for ) Buck .
For #1 Buck there will be 16 pellets and not sure about the Grex .
For #2 Buck it looks like 22 pellets and the jueys out on the amount of Grex .
I've never tried #2 Buck before but I lucked into 6 or 7 pounds of it recently , so I figured what the heck .

Just finished counting buckshot holes and am still at the gunclub . All loads were fired from the bench at 25 yards . #3 Buck was 20/26 pellets in the right barrel and 21/26 in the left barrel . #2 Buck in the right barrel was 16/22 and the left was 18/22 . #1 Buck in the right was 11/16 and the left was 15/16 . #0 Buck in the right barrel was 11/12 and the left was 10/12 . 00 in the right was 10/12 and the left was 12/12 . And finally 000 in the right was 8/8 and the left was 8/8 of also !

Loaded some lead #2 birdshot yesterday . 1 1/4 ounce and tried it in both barrels from 25 and 40 yards .Even though the guns choked M/IM it did very well at 40 yards for geese with the #2 shot .
So I will try #1 Bismuth birdshot in it soon .

It's nice to know you can still shoot 10 gauge Damascus Barreled Shotguns

Just made a couple orders for ammo and components !

From Precision Reoading I got a 7 pounder of #1 Bismuth bird shot , a 25 pounder of Remington #1 Buck , some new Remington 10 gauge hulls , some overshot 10 gauge card wads and some 16 gauge 1/4" Nitro wads to use in the 10 gauge shot cups .

From Cheaper the Dirt I ordered a FLAT of Spartan 20 gauge #1 Buckshot shells thats 250 shells . I think some of those will be sold in the shop 50 of them should last me a lifetime or so !

The Bismuth is most certainly for this Parker and a couple other 10 gauge guns in my possesion !

[QUOTE=6pt-sika;3186899]I straightened out the dent yesterday using a friends barrel dent puller yesterday . It's still visible on the outside but imperceptible on the inside . QUOTE]

That could be a situation that needs to be examined by a gunsmith with a dial wall thickness gauge. If you mean that slight scarring on the outside is visible, it is a pity, but harmless. But if the gun was used extensively while dented, some of the dent may have been worn away. Raising it to make the bore truly cylindrical would mean there is a thin spot.

This was done in a gunsmith shop .
