Is anybody casting this mold NOE 454424 255 SWC for their 45ACP? if so what powder and grains did you start with? Ive got 231, HP38, unique, bullseye to play with. I know its heavy for the ACP but I got a good deal on the mold. I will resize to 452

Thank You

Speer manual has data for 260 grain JHP. I just use that.

Out of the powders you listed, the Unique would be the best. It has a slower burn rate than the other two you listed. Bullseye being one, and HP-38 / W231 being the same powder.
I have used the Speer #12 data listed, for their 260 grain HP, replaced by LEE 255 RF boolit in my 45 acp. I use Herco powder for the push.
With the heavy slugs, the slower powders really shine.

Stephen;
I use that exact same bullet from an NOE five cavity mould for my 625. I use 7.0 grs of Unique. This chronographs at 900+ fps. Elmer Keith used as much as 7.5 grs. but I don't want to beat up my 625's. Skeeter Skelton stated that he had bulged a cylinder of his 1917 - I would NOT use this load in any Smith made before 1950. The cylinders were not heat treated in the early guns and they are a bit tender.

I use an alloy of WW's+2% tin and size to .452". I can feel the front band enter my cylinder throat. It is a perfect match with my guns for a heavy load.

NOTE: Lyman has produced moulds that vary considerably with this design over the years. Some seat a good bit deeper than others and can actually cause pressure problems. NOE has the design correctly and I believe I can fully depend on them to produce the same design mould after mould.

5.5 Unique makes for a very pleasant load without modifications to your gun for running +p or near. I've shot quite a few of them in my 1911's. Actually the reason I started casting in the first place, heavy boolits in the 1911.

I use the Lyman mold of that bullet and use 6.0 gr. Unique in a Glock 21 with a KKM barrel and my FA 97 45 acp cylinder.
