What do I have here ? model? .....(universal ?)
came across this one today as another party is trying to sell , it also has several dies included ...along with primer post ..
Plus some CH shell holders ..
What would be a fair price offer to start with ?
Couldn't help but have a soft spot when I recognized it for what it is , another tidbit here , no handle.
Die list as written on the baggies ..
270 win
8x 57 win

I have the exact same press with "PAT 1935 Universal " printed on one side and "MFG BY HOLLYWOOD GUN SHOP" on the other. The ram slides under bolted on ways. Mine is a heavy solid steel beast, no aluminum anywhere. Three hole turret 7/8 x 14 tread. I don't prime cases on it but I do have the primer post. The guy wanted $400 a few years ago but I didn't pay near his asking price.

Yep .. you described it to a "t" ....as exactly the same model .
It now is sitting on my bench in the mancave .
It came with the die sets listed and upon looking closer ... they are "Easton" brand or make .
Think this beast has been sitting back in the garage quite a few years ....
Also three primer post as you can see in the pic besides a decapper set up and possibly an older version of a Wilson case gauge check .. it is two piece ,will have to look closer for the caliber.
This and and the die manufacture/calibers all together are all clues it would seem that it has been in storage for quite some time .

A "Universal A" model ?

This being Hollywood's first press was simply called the Model A. At some point down the road they started calling it the Model 1.
It is called a Universal press because Hollywood bought the design from "Universal" and did a few small mods.

As Hollywood upgraded the Universal press design with options they added the Model B(II), + Deluxe models which meant turret primer posts, and turret shell holders. The model III meant three turrets: head, primer, and shell holder.

This nomenclature can get confusing.

Thank you so much there Lubdude ! ... wow ! their first model .
Love all the info you gave ...
Never noticed them all these years and now I have two on my bench within a year ... go figure.
they do take up a bit of bench space ...;-)
will have to start the clean up here pretty quick , but another question ..
Did I see some one on one of the other threads .. machining extra turrets for sale ?
And if it would be possible to install a full circle turret on this original universal ?
Just a thought , but thanks again .. by the way .. nice pics !

Nice find Digger. Lots of the older Universals have disappeared into collections. Now you have a good start on your own collection.
