Harry Chapin left us too young. Like some others, he was a better song writer than a singer, at least in my opinion. Master of the sad song.

Look around on youtube sometime, there is a live performance of Pat Benatar singing Shooting Star in a tribute concert to him that is haunting it's so good.

I have a cousin that is 4 years older than I, when we were young, pre-teen for me, he learned to play this song as he thought my brother and I would enjoy it. We did, still remember him singing it.

Didn't care for his political views, but as a songwriter he was great. Not a bad singer, but not great. Heard him say in an interview he started his first band in high school, because he auditioned for the school choir, and was turned down! Here's one of my favorites, sums things up pretty well, at least for me.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVGgtZ4Qda4

Isn't that funny...about his political views....I never could understand why anyone would pay any attention to an actor or entertainer's political views....funny how a guy or gal who gets paid big money to pretend he is something he isn't...thinks we should take them serious when they try to tell everyone else how to live?
I liked his music: Simple, clear, and told stories I could relate to.

Dance Band on the Titanic was a quirky but very entertaining album.
