I have a bsa 6x24x40 mil dot scope. At what power do I need to be for the mil dot scope to be accurate in estimating distance? I don't have the manual. The scope came with a different gun I purchased.

Try going to their website and downloading the manual. Most manufacturers have this info on line.

I emailed bsa waiting on a response. Was out shooting again yesterday. Was at the 200 yrd range. At 24 power I was exactly 4 mildots low with 100yrds zero. Shooting at paper plates (9inch target) at 200yrds. Now trying to figure out the math so I can just dial the scope I stead of holding over.

A mil at 100 yards = 3.6" and at 200 yards = 7.2" so 7.2"x 4 = 28.8" low or 14 min approximately.
