I'm renovating my home built in 1981. Today I removed some plaster to reveal 3 rounds of Eley hollow point .22LR ammo sitting on the noggins. They've been sitting in non insulated walls all that time with freezing temperatures in the winter and baking through the summers.

What do you think the will do when fired? I'll let you know in a week or so. It will be interesting to see what 34 years of bad storage will do. It's a pity the builder didn't leave a full box to test.

Eley? It better be "3 bangs" or at least "3 pops".

The famous "Eley priming system", you know?

Im going with firing like you bought them yesterday
With the price of 22s you should be able to pay for your remodel with that find (:

I'd be more surprised if they didn't work perfectly.

I know the ideal is perfect humidity and climate controlled storage. But my experience with old ammo that had been in uncontrolled climate garages, basements, and attics, some for over 50 years, subject to extreme heat, cold, and high humidity, is that they all worked just fine.

If you found old ammo from Custer's time, you would not want to take a chance standing in front of it being fired.

Back when I started High School, I wired 3 fed. .22 Short rounds to a backyard tree. After graduation, I decided to finally try them out..after going thru 4 Michigan winters & summers..nothing extrodinary happened..all went bang.
