Got my Vaquero Sunday [smilie=w:
First the good:
Everything is a tight fit, less than .005 BC gap, tight lock up.
No Barrel Constriction.
Throats are .451 so shoots .451 pretty accurately with little leading.
The bad:
Throats are .451 so I will be having them opened up to .452 by DougGuy.
Shoots .452 with accuracy not so good. I'm pretty sure I had more felt recoil then with .451 :?, load was the same
except for bullet sizing. The attached pic is with .451
The forcing cone could use an 11 degree cut, will most likely do this myself as I do not want to ship out my gun.

hylander. looks good and iffin it were me ... I would not do a thing and shoot .451's if this is and indication of the groups it will throw ... nice revolver and good shooting my friend.

Tom at accurate molds has a good assortment of boolit styles and sizes for anything you request. I have several of his molds and couldn't be happier. they cast spot on every time and the workmanship you get is outstanding for such a cheap price he charges. [I aint any affiliation with accurate molds in any way] ... just want to promote a good product at a very good price is all. I bet I have bought 10 or 12 of his molds and they arrive with super looks and ability to cast perfectly rite outta the box.

also I see your Vaquero shoot a bit left as does mine.

GougGuy can cut the forcing cone while opening up the cylinders to .452. The barrel could be turned and your hitting POA. The .451 group looks good to me tho, turning the barrel is about all I might do to startand I probably wouldn't even do that until I shot it more and tried a few more loads.

Looks good to me. If it shoots like that, I'd just leave it alone.

Thanks guys,

475BH: I agree, it might need a Bisley hammer.

Like jedomejd and scattershot said, I wouldn't do anything till you try a few more loads. Your 10 yard group looks good though. If I had .451 throats I certainly wouldn't ream to .452 - just size boolits to .451 and your accuracy should be as good as if you shot .452 boolits through .452 throats.

with groups like that I believe you have no where to go but worse. I wonder just how many did all the grinding reaming and cutting and only made it worse?

Would stay.451 but my other revolver needs .452, so I could size the same for both and interchange ammo

Congrats on your Vaquero. Definitely fit or have fitted a Bisley hammer. So much more practical than the stock hammer. Then have the cylinder throats reamed, work the trigger over and enjoy!

My main complaint is the front sight that IMHO should be a full .10" in width.
