I have used the new CFE223 powder in my 8 mm Mauser and .300 Savage with jacketed bullets. Does anyone have any data or suggestions for the 8x57 w/ 200 grain cast boolits, 6.5x55 w/ 120 grain cast boolits, and the .300 Savage w/ any weight cast boolit. I have done a search on this site and I have seen lots of posts about CFE223, but it mostly applies to smaller cartridges such as the .223 and doesn't really answer my questions. It is a fairly fast burning powder and should be somewhere in the range of RL-7 and 3031. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well it will burn dirty in a 223 if you down load it much off SAMI max. But that only has a 55 grain bullet on top to get moving.
May burn fine lit with a LR primer and a heavy bullet to resist moving.

As you probably already know, Hodgdon's web site has data up to 180 grain jackets in 8x57. Not much help for 200 grains. Pressures are rated lower, relatively speaking. Same problem with their other new powders, such as Superformance. Not a complete selection for all bullet weights and calibers.

Frustration!

CFE223 should be a good fit in the 300 Savage but not seeing much published data to support my theory. Take a look at 308W data in the Hodgdon Annual or website. I think it will be good in the 32WS but having the same problem.

cfe 223 is actually a bit slower than reloader 7. it appears around the aa2520 /4064 or slower on some burn rate charts. in cast loads I've had excellant results in 223 with noe 60 grain pill, linotype and 19.0 grains.; velocity is @ 2200 from an old pact. This functions my ar-15 hbar and locks the bolt back.

I really want this powder for 22-250. Big velocity gains

i haven't ran anything over the chrono, however, it does shoot clean at the top end. I had better accuracy with 8208 XBR so I stuck with it. This is in a. Kimber Varmint 22-250
