I have my 45-70 cartridges in a handled MTM 50 round box. I think it is known as an H-50. It is a lot larger than it needs to be and the un-needed handle doesn't allow stacking. The loaded rounds fit fine in aMTM medium box, but the rims overlap. A 60 round box will hold 40 rounds without overlapping, but that's silly. What do you use?

20 round -

1. very large slip top J&J >>>>>> 45-70 ---- 600 NE is the part number It will accept 45-70 rim down
2. Small flip top Berrys 111
3. Very old slip top by Avey Plastics of San Marcos, Texas - you have to fill every other hole then fill in between
but they work fine and I have used them for 45 year. Only available as second hand now. The lids are loose so tape them on when traveling.

22 round flip top by MTM >>>> RF 22 SM nice hinge odd shape on the top

50 round

Smallest 50 round flip top works with the rims overlapped stackable Midway 509
These used to be cheap when you bought the seconds. You can fill with 30 rounds without over lap or add the last 20 in between.

None of the following stack
all have handles

50 round MTM H 50 RM large
50 round MTM H 50 RL large
50 round MTM H 50 MAG super large

100 round MTM Deluxe R100
Has a handle and is stackable but weighs a ton when filled

50 round - Huge 50 round stackable box handles up to the 50-90 Sharps Berry's 415 Special (for ultramags) Handles 50-90 Sharps rim down.

I kind of like all of them but the tops are loose on the Avey Fitalls so you dump your ammo if they turn over. It is good to tape the top on them and the other slip tops. Of the 20 round and 22 round flip tops I kind of like the MTM lid hinge the best but the top of the box has a odd shape for stacking.

I like the Berry's 416 for 50 caliber
I bought a lot of them so I store 45-70 brass in them too - fits rim down - like a BB in a box car.

The 100 round MTM is best suited for storing empty brass unless you have a day of blasting scheduled.

Since all my old cardboard cartridge boxes are full, the rest are just filling up a coffee can.

I use the 20rd plastic from MTM or sim. They stack nicely, I rarely take more than 40rds out anyway.

If you have a drill press and saw you can make them from wood. A 1/2" forester bit and a little lay out with dividers and you can make exactly what you want. Other wise MTM Berries and plano make plastic containers that do a good job. I had some with "fingers" to hold the rounds centered . I ended up cutting them out with a drill, They had enough tension to piull my bullets when removing rounds.

Happy to help. Also, if you need trays for them while hand loading, check out the caliber specific from Frankford Arsenal.

On all plastic boxes I use a piece of velcro 3/4" by about 12" long surrounding the cartridge box to ensure the box does not open unexpectedly.

I keep some of my shooting stuff for my shilohs in these cases. I just think they are neat. The rest are in a small ammo box in ziplocks.

MTM RMLD-50 - I bought some and they work fine, no handles, rim down and they stack. The footprint is as big as the 50 round ones with a handle, but I can live with that.
Oh yes, I use the Sinclair deluxe loading blocks. They are some kind of plastic, washable and most important they are way thicker than others so the cases don't fall over when loaded with 500gr bullets. I made bench blocks out of an old butcher block counter about 2" thick and enough holes to legally get me through a relay with sighters.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
