A couple more projects I finished up yesterday. The transitional rifle I built some years ago, but had finished it in a very light color. I decided to strip it, and make it darker. Looks a lot nicer, to my eye now. I left the little dings it had gained over the years, just because they were honest wear.
The second one is a schutzen rifle I have been messing around with for 7-8 years, I just didn't have any real interest in building it, or keeping it. The parts were given me by a friend back then, as he had also lost interest. More to put on the table at the gun show!

Could you give us soome details about the Scheutzen?
What's the action, caliber, barrel, did you make the buttplate? Do you know of a good reference on Scheutzen rifles?
TIA, LC

Like I said, I have no real interest in them, the parts were given to me. I've shot some before, but not in competition. Hoch action, Douglas barrel, .33 Winchester. No clue on references.

Ric...I'd say that Scheutzen rifle. That you don't have any interest in is worth every bit of a 100 dollars so I'll pay you 125 bucks for it just to help you out.

Actually, a friend who is a schutzen competitor stopped by yesterday, and wised me up on the value. For what I was thinking of asking, I would have been giving it away. I think I'll hold out for a bit more!

Very nice, I have a muzzle loader my Uncle started before he died and I finished it to the point of wood finish and stopped.

What stain did you use on that one?

That is a combination of dark walnut and chestnut Minwax, with some medium brown leather dye.

Very nice rifles. Good work, I hope they bring or brought what you're asking.
