I just received a copy of "The Gun Digest Book of .44's". I ordered from Amazon (actually through Amazon from one of their "partners") and it was less than $13.00 delivered. It is authored by John Taffin and is a GREAT READ. It covers the history of .44 handguns (and rifles) with lots of great pictures and good, tested, loading data. I can recommend it without reservation:

I ordered from the first listed "Amazon Partner" for $8.25 + $3.99 shipping for a total of $12.24. It was delivered in less than a week (U.S. Post Office). The book has no advertisements and no catalog. It costs less than twice what a typical gun magazine costs and has MUCH, MUCH more information (and did I mention, wonderful pictures?).
