I bought a set of over / under barrels + action as a project gun to make my own stock. I'm finally getting to it and I realized it never came with a foreend or the foreend parts. As with most over/unders the cocking of the hammers happens when the barrels are broken open and the metal piece on the end of the foreend presses back on some lugs. The gun function checks just fine, but I don't really want to start making a stock for it if I can't get the required parts.

The shotgun in question is a Tikka M17, parts diagram here: http://www.aseinsinoori.fi/Tikka_haulikko_M17.jpg

I basically need a 10,11,12,13's, 14, and 15's.

I've found from some reading that the design was based on a remington model 32. If anyone happens to have one and can take some pictures or measurements of the metal bits in question that would help. Based on could easily mean the design was changed such that model 32 parts wouldn't fit as replacements.

Does anyone here know of sources for obscure parts like this? I'm in Canada but I imagine most of these parts not being a receiver/barrel means there wouldn't be problems shipping them internationally.. ( I hope )..

Any help would be appreciated.

The schematic looks very much like a Savage 330, might have some inter change if you are lucky.

Look at a Valmet 412. Could be what you need. Have you checked Numrich Gun Parts?

This would be my first stop. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/
Next would be http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/
I would also do a bing search http://www.bing.com/ I would not waste my time on google for this.

Can someone with a Savage 330/333/333T comment on the cocking mechanism? It looks on the M17 diagram like there are two small tabs on the forend iron that push back on part 20/21 to cock the hammers. I don't see those tabs on the savage forends. There is a 20ga forend in stock with numrich, although I'm guessing 12ga & 20ga are different in size?

Yeah Largom I did look quickly at Numrich earlier, they don't have anything for a 'Tikka M17', hence why I came here. I had heard there were a few other models / makes that were similar but I had no idea what those were.

DCM, you have better luck using Bing when it comes to gun related things over google?

Thanks for the help so far guys, a lot more model #'s to chase down parts for now...

Colt.45:

Forget about getting any firearms parts up here from the US.

You'll be better off trying to locate parts here in Canada, if you can find what you looking for.

Have you tried advertising on CGN? Or, have you tried contacting Western Gun Parts in Edmonton?

Yeah Rick I did make a post on CGN in the shotgun forum, I guess I could put up a WTB on the EE as well. I was thinking that non action parts wouldn't have any problems shipping over borders.

I've never heard of western gun parts but I sent them an email.
