The title just about says it all.

I want to get into loading for my 20ga. 870. The MEC 600 JR Mark 5 seems like a good machine to start off with and I'm wondering if it will load slugs too.

You can drop the powder if you wanted. But, really doubt you will want to be messing with the press and loading slugs. Over complicating it

roll crimping?

kinda, sorta but not really. In other words push your slugs into the wad first and then crimp them on the press. You can seat them with the press but the metal tube that comes down mars the top of the slug. I roll crimp most of my slugs but have found somewhat better accuracy with fold crimps (8 point). Still messing with loads to find a decent shooter.

I use a 650, prime,powder, wad then roll crimp.

Thanks. I guess this year I'll concentrate on shot loads and maybe pick up a 600 slugger at a later date.

I use my Jr. to solely load 00 buck and slugs. Of course, you have to remove the shell and load them by hand, but I made a rod to seat them. I load them in WInchester AA's using Lee's formula.
i don't use the bushings and powder bottles since I don't have correct bushings. I mounted a spare Lyman 55 using a flat RCBS powder measure plate.

Do you use the folded crimp on the 600?

I do on my JR. using AAs.

I have done it - just fold crimp over the slug.

I do it on my 650- one at a time.

Well, at least it's 'kind of'. I ordered the press today along with some supplies. It's good to know that even if not great, I can probably put together some slug loads.

if it is a slug you can do the fold then you can use the press to do most of what you need to do but had the load slug by hand and then fold crimp on the press or like some stated roll crimp.I do both also .
