Is it just 2cycle oil? or is it something worth only using.

others have mentioned 2cycle oil, is that a good or bad idea? bees wax sure was a bad idea. **** was messy as ill get out.

how often do you lube?

When I start a casting session and about half way through I'll touch it up. I only use a tiny bit on the head of a Q-tip and dab the hinge pin and very, very lightly on the top of the mold, staying 1/4" away from the boolit holes.

They use Bullplate. But any full synthetic two stroke oil will do the same thing. No point paying more for a repackaged product.

Personally, I think the Bullplate works much better than synthetic 2 stroke oil. You mileage may vary. Here's the link to it on Noe's site. One drop of it is usually sufficient for one lengthy casting session. A little goes a long way. http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product_info.php?products_id=726&osCsid=1j0ria4arr1989qi2vjl0b50a2

I have been using a little bottle (maybe 2 oz. at most) from Bonanza for years. It started running low. So, I tried some Lucas "Upper Cylinder Lubricant and Injector Clearner. I had a 5.25 oz. bottle laying around shop. It does a fantastic job. I will be dead before that is all used up.

Any reason not to just use Neverseize?

You can just order it from Noe's website. I always add a bottle from them when I buy a mold and they sell it separately. Works like a champ!

Try dielectric silicone grease. I have had good luck with it.

Seems folks are talking about a couple different uses; bullet lube and mold lube. For my molds I use Bullplate (I know 2-cycle works too, but I'll support a member any time I can). I also make a bullet lube; 3-1 Beeswax to Bullplate.

Synthetic 2cycle mould lube works, but will migrate into cavity and contaminate if too much is used. I use a very very small drop on hinge bolt area and neverseize on alignment pins.

LBT mould lube (beeswax and graphite) work best, but is very messy if too much is used.

I have been using Marvel Mystery Oil for over 60 years and have yet to stick a case with it.

wmitty never seize would probabley work fine but would be messy,I have never used it but STP should be good, I would try cutting it with a mineral sprite or a light oil of some kind or it may be too thick.

Just curious, how would you stick a case using MMO as a sprue plate lube? IMHO, that is what the OP is asking about, Sprue Plate lube.

Do cases often stick to other peoples Molds?

Some claim syn 2 cycle is the same , & will work ,but it migrates more & has to be renewed more often

I have never used anything but Bullplate so can't compare it to anything else. What I can say though is that if I forget to put it on I have much more trouble. Then I realize what I forgot, lube up and everything is good.

All two stroke oils are not the same and to tell the truth, Bullplate looks like Opti II. Best ever two stroke oil.

I don't worry about what it is made of. IT WORKS! For the minimal amount that it costs and how far it goes I will support one of our fellow members.

He's not a member anymore and hasn't been for months. If you wish to support him then by all means do so. But over paying for a common product is not high on my list of things I like to do. Not all oils are the same so just because one brand runs more doesn't mean another brand won't work the same as Bullplate.
