I just finished this, shoots pretty darned good. .36 cal., swamped barrel, plank build. I notice in the pictures, I have a bit of finish to rub out on the wire inlay yet!

That's exceptionally nice! Great job! I want to build a 32 very similar to that after I finish the next two.

Very nice. I am debating a poor boy squirrel rifle kit build (can't hope for your level of work shown here). What does "plank build" mean?

If it shoots as good as it looks it will be a true treasure for generations to come.

The stock started as a plank, rather than a kit.

Man o man you do very nice work!
Style and craftsmanship!
How long did it take to get this far?

I average around 100-110 hours on a rifle.

Or taken another way, 35 years!

Very nice indeed! I am not one for a lot of inlay and such on my guns (more of a plain Jane poor boy guy) but I do admire the workmanship. You have an extremely high level of skill and attention to detail. If you got it flaunt it! I don't got it. I got no rhythm either. My wife and kids got all the artistic and musical talent in my family.

Excellent work. Are you going to post a target? If it shoots as good as it looks (and I bet it does) there should be one ragged hole.

That is indeed a work of art as well as a beautiful, functional rifle. Thanks for using your gift to make such pieces for all to enjoy and a few to own.

I have a lot of work scheduled, so no idea when I will be able to really wring out a good load. I was getting around 1.5" at 40 yards. I am pretty sure I need some larger balls, or some thicker patches. I just shot it enough to rough sight it, before finish work.

I can fully inlet a swamped barrel by hand in around 6-7 hours. They go easy, once you know the tricks.

That shows the difference between someone like who knows what they are doing, and someone like me. Ive got my hours in mine than a person could believe. Beautiful piece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now how did I miss that it has a swamped barrel!?!

I'll go $251.00 and I'll pay the shipping to Canada. I'll even take your word on the the 1 1/2" groups.

Can't quite figure why you need larger balls to shoot a .36 though. That's not something I would admit on a public forum.

I didn't see a buy it now button. When is bidding over?

You guys obviously missed that it is vintage, rare, and tactically ballistic! That raises the price right there~~!!

Longbow, if you would come down to the shoot at Eureka, Mt. the last weekend in April, you could take it home with you. I'm sure we could put a hell of a dent in Colby and Lil's liquor supply while we haggle over the final price!

How about some particulars who made the barrel and lock? Round bottom rifling? Square? Twist?

Wow, so it was not built to order? just built for, uh, inventory? What number are you thinking about in front of the comma?

Waksupi I am absolutely sure it would be a large dent, and I am betting the final price might go up just a smidge (maybe 2 smidges). It is a beautiful gun.

I will have to pass though. I have not been to a muzzleloader shoot in many years and only have one old poorly made Hawken from a CVA kit I put together many years ago... now that might go for $251.00 (or maybe a smidge less).

Yeah, I know, if I came to the shoot I would wind up with a "real" gun. The time and money budget won't allow that right now though.

My wife and I are mostly archers these days... with a little cast boolit shooting on the side. I have been toying with the idea of getting back into muzzleloader shooting again and really would like a trade musket... and a squirrel rifle. Maybe down the line a little more.

Say hi to Colby and Lil for me. I haven't seen them at traditional archery shoots for some time now.

This has the small Chambers Queen Anne lock, and a Bauska barrel, square cut. I didn't check the twist, I would just be guessing at the time.

Well, if you are wanting that many loob grooves thrown in, I can not help but think you are trying to take advantage of this poor ol' country boy!
