Wanting to conserve my AA 2230 I started looking for a new powder to try. I shoot Lever Action Silhouette with a 26 inch 94 Winchester.

The load I have been using is a Lyman 375449 (mine drops 'em at 285 grains) at about 1,750 fps. Way more than the chickens at fifty yards need.

I have a nice 375248 which is the same boolit without the gascheck, so after lapping it a bit to get it somewhat larger I cast a few.

Dug around in my powder stash and discovered that I have about fifteen pounds of HS 6. Mmm. Couldn't find any data to start with but sort of thought that ten grains would probably do fine. Loaded a handful and oh my, very nice. About an inch at fifty and just about 1,000 fps over the Chrony.

Those shot so well it made me think that maybe more would be better!

So I tried twelve and a half grains. The accuracy was the same and got just over 1,400 feet. Sweet! I bet these'll even do for the pigs and ours are very heavy.
