I have done this before. We used USPS flat rate box full of one lead swapped for agreed on weight of other lead in same size box. Each person pays the shipping on the box that they ship. Exchange tracking numbers from post office via a PM.

Three things worth mentioning. Fiber reinforced tape is your new best friend, clear tape will not get the job done for a box of lead. Do not leave empty space inside the shipping box, getting crushed or having lead bounce around will bust the seams of the box. With a little notching and trimming you can double up the USPS flat rate boxes.

Those used plastic shopping bags wadded or twisted up are a good packing material. Tough enough a lead bar can't punch through one that is wadded or twisted to compress it. Actually the tape and packing material are a good idea for shipping most reloading materials or equipment. Pack it tight and seal it right and it will arrive with the contents still in the box.
