This is my first post here and I want to start it off right, so thank you all. This website has been a great resource for me over the last year or so as I've explored bullet casting. The collective knowledge of the posters here is a thing of value.

I currently cast for 9mm and .45 ACP. I also powder coat my bullets (with great success). I started casting mostly to make frequent shooting with my handguns cost efficient, but I would like to start casting for rifles as well. Here are my questions, for those who cast for the .243 Winchester.

1. What molds would you recommend for an accurate varmint round? (That is, if there is more than the one RCBS I have found).

2. What velocity can one reasonably expect to achieve using an isotope lead/clip-on ww alloy boolit that has been powder coated before leading becomes a serious issue?

Any input is welcome. Thank you.

Take a look at The NOE 75 grainer. We have shot it in 5 or 6 243's and 6mm's with great success.

Not a bullet coater/painter here. I've had very good accuracy from 1650 FPS to 1900 FPS in 243 Winchester using 92/6/2 alloy--RCBS 6mm-95-SP bullets lubed with Alox/beeswax--and 12.0 to 14.0 grains of Alliant 2400 powder. WLR primers in Rem cases. Started at 1700 FPS, I've picked off ground squirrels to 225 yards with these loads.

I've got the RCBS 95 grain mold and while I haven't shot it much (and then only at paper with reduced loads), it looks like it has a lot of potential. I'm wanting to wring it out once warm weather gets here.
