Hi Folks,
Well I want to finally shoot my last stored away rifle with cast boolits. I haven't shot her since 1974. My Dad bought me a 336 Marlin in .35 Rem back in 1964-65. Hunted my first deer with it, then as usual, life changes and it has been unused since the 1970's.
Well, this time I'm ahead of the game; Got all my cast boolit reloading gear before hand and have my dies lapped out for shootin cast boolits.

Since I have a large amount of different casts boolits already for .38 Spec, .357 Mag and .38 S&W ( Plus moulds) I thought I would start out with some light loads & plain base pistol boolits in it before buying anything else. Most of all my pistol boolits are fat at.360" ( Of course the .38 S&W boolits are fatter at .363") However the heaviest boolit I have is from an Ideal 357446 SWC
It weighs in (w/lube) at 162 gr. and is sized at .360"
Loaded up 20 rounds with 10 grains Unique. Hoping to get out this weekend but not sure if that is going to happen.
Just wondering if anyone else has shot that boolit in a 336 Marlin?

I don't shoot a .35 Remington, but have a Winchester 1894 which was rebored to a .35 on the .30-30 case. Powder capacity is slightly less than a .35 Remington and it has the same 16-inch twist of rifling. I get good results with 8 grains of Bullseye with any plainbased .38 Special bullet from 158-200 grains. My favorite is the NOE .359-190FN.133157

Outpost, where did you get that Mills-type ammo belt? I like it!

We shoot the 358156 over 10gr unique with good results. We thought of it as a small game load until my son shot a rabbit with it. Lets just say it's for head shots only on anything you want to eat. :)

Not exactly what you're referring to but similar...........

I had Buckshot HP a .35 cal., double cav. SAECO # 353 HP. The mold cavity that was not HP'd cast a solid at 180 grs. My HP version cast at 168 grs. with a generous HP cavity. I've shot this bullet into wet sand at 38 Spec. velocities and found perfectly mushroomed bullets .700 " in diameter.

My HP pin goes all the way down to the crimp ring on this bullet.

Extremely accurate from my 38 Spec. Marlin 1894 CBC and shoots real good from my 358 Win. I'll include a target ( below ) shot with my 358 Win. , range was 50 yards , 5 shots, with the HP version of the bullet, load was 10.8 grs. of Russian Unique.

Considering the increased cost of g/c's , this bullet has a lot of potential in both full power pistol and reduced .35 cal. rifle loads .

If you have a SAECO # 353, you might want to consider sending it to Rick. I'm glad I did ! !

I have also shot the 358156 in the .35 Rem in a Remington Model 81. It actually shot pretty good with 8-10 gr of Unique, 1-2" at 50 yards. Another I tried at the same time was the 358250 with Unique, and it shot pie plate groups at 50 yards. I think mine liked the gas check and you might not need 10 grains of Unique.
