I was working over in Oklahoma today and had occasion to stop in a tire shop. Before I left I asked the owner what he did with his old wheel weights? He said that had been saving them for a felow who made bullets with them. I explained that was my interest and showed him some .22 , 243, and 45 cal. bullets I had made. He showed me a .....222 case he had just pulled from a tire, it made quiet a hole. We talked guns and shooting for a while, then he said that the other man hadn't been by in a long time, so why didn't I take the weights. It was a small town, so there were about 50 lbs. piled on and around the wheel balancing machine. I did manage to find a razor blade as I was scooping up weights, and cut my thumb(small cut). I went by my regular stop at home and got another 10 lbs. A good day. DALE

Finding Some WW's is always a GOOD Thing! I get disapointed when I don't find much, but a friend reminded me that at least I did find some. He was right! No more complaining for me.

Nice. Any amount is a good amount these days.

Few weeks ago I sent a friend some 45/70 bullets i cast to try out, he must have liked 'cuz i had a care package on my doorstep a couple days ago:

I have decided that I have GOT to find a local source of lead. So today I tried a couple of big tire shops and got the idea that they contract with their battery suppliers to pick up the WW. I even offered the manager a small bribe, which didn't seem to help. [smilie=1:Then I want to a smaller shop and was told that the other guy comes about every 2 or 3 months and just left with a full bucket for $10! He told me to come back in a month and there should be enough to make it worth my while. So I am marking my calender and hopefully will get some cheap WW.

Funny that you say that. I find myself looking in the gutters at traffic signals.

I found 6 on two tires floating in a creek yesterday. I hid the tires in the brush and am going back with my pliers later this week!

I run on a country road, and pick up some larger truck ones once and a while.... looks a little silly, I have no pockets to carry them in, but what the heck!
