Recently got an older 1895 Chilean. After cleaning barrel for two days, went to range and discovered it shoots really well with cast boolits sized .287. I replaced the rear sight with an S&K Scout Mount & unused 2x pistol scope. The trigger was heavy so I ordered a Timney Trigger without the safety because I wanted to use the Mauser safety. Timney fit fine and after putting rifle back together, I can not get safety to move from firing position. Timney instructions are confusing to me and I don't know how to get it up and running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'd call Timney. They know this stuff inside out.

The Timney trigger, when the the striker is cocked, is either holding the striker too far forward or too far rearward. It must be fitted by someone who knows which is which and how to do it. If you know which it is and you have the ability then a few suggestions can probably get it done. Timney will probably tell you to get an after market safety and have a gunsmith fit it.

Got it up and running ! Had to file down the front of the striker quite a bit and now safety works in all three positions. Did numerous drop test with floor in each safety position and firing pin didn't fall.
Thanks
