In the recent past 3-4 weeks, someone mentioned and optical aid that attached to your glasses and worked something like a peep sight to extend the field of your focus and sharpen your vision. It even had an adjustment so you could dial in the size of the aperture.
I can't remember the name of it, the thread it was posted in, or who posted about it.
I am thinking I would like to try one out but can't do it without the name.
If you remember it I would be pleased if you would post about it here.
Thanks

Merit makes an adjustable one which uses a suction cup to hold to lens. I now am using a German made Gehmann..this one clips to top of glasses frame & has lever for infinate adustment. The thing is like magic..sights fuzzy and all of a sudden their razor sharp.

That's what I am looking for. I need to get rid of the fuzzies. 30 years ago I didn't have this problem.
I believe the Merit was the one mentioned earlier.
Thanks for responding.

Be aware - the Merit suction cup may not stick to your lenses. My lenses are "coated" and the suction cup just would not stay on.

The Gehmann is definitely worth the additional cost and is easier to adjust into position.

Tazman,
I've made a couple out of clip-on jewelers loupes...

1) I buy one of these
http://www.harborfreight.com/165x-jewelers-clip-on-eye-loupe-94364.html (About $5.00)

2) Remove the lenses and replace with dark cardboard disks, drill whatever aperture hole you want thru the center.

They work pretty well and they're cheap.

Thanks. That looks very interesting.

I've read and heard the Merit works pretty good but I never understood how it could sharpen your vision just by reducing your aperture. I need to try one because the best I can do is a fuzzy front sight anymore.

Someone is also marketing a stick-on aperture: just a black sticker with a small hole in it.

It works like a camera lens. The smaller the aperture the greater the depth of field. I have the Merit and it works for me. I am not familiar with the Gehmann.

The reason I went to the Gehmann was I was shooting in late fall..weather was cold & suction cup just didn't want to stay on..I managed to push the lens out of my shooting glasses trying to get that thing to stick!

Lyman Hawkeye is an inexpensive plastic version that I have been using
for years, works well.

Or drill a 1/16" or a touch bigger hole into a piece of meta (want a good sharp
edge to the hole for optical reasons) epoxy it to a wire and mount that to glasses
with a small alligator clip.
