7x57 seater/puller.

I have a set of Hornady 'New Dimension' dies for the 7X57. The shape of the floating nose punch in the seater is designed for AMax condoms or something similarly sharp. When seating boolits, LEE or RCBS, that nose punch seats them, then grabs 'em by their rounder noses and pulls 'em back out! Boolits end up really stuck in there and you have to disassemble the seater and tap the boolit out with a brass rod. Anybody experienced this? Anybody got a fix? I'm leery of reshaping that punch as I still want to seat AMax's also.

I had the same problem the only way I found to fix it, without butchering the original, was to make a new punch out of a short piece 5/16 steel for the cast bullets and keep the original for the jacketed bullets.

I did have to turn down part of the stem to fit the floating plug on a lathe. It only takes a few minutes if you have one or have a friend who does.

Had a similar problem that I was able to solve by just polishing the nose punch. Worked for me.......

I have stuffed tin foil in a seater plug for this and it worked, just pull it back out for Amax!

Contact Hornady. I bet they have or would make you a custom one for your boolit profile.

Wax or epoxy, placed in the seating stem and imprinted by a RN boolit will work, too.
