I hope you guys get a good turn out, I've been told that it's a pretty decent range.

I think some scope national records have been fired there? Great range for it, I hear. Best of luck and a great turn out. It is a wee bit to far off my radar to attend, I wish though. Still have to get to walking first, this leg is a very very slow mend.
Long rang matches and the ranges that hold them are in my opinion, are something of a national treasure, more so when BP matches are held there.

I'ld like to be able to just travel the country going from one longrange match to the next. Can't really think of a better way to see the country..

Don.

Jump in that Gypsy wagon and pick up your CPA rifle. You will pass by close to Allemans, PA. I was going to look up that range when I went by but it was raining pretty heavy so I did not drop down. For me it would be an easy drive to make if it wouldn't be for going through Chicago and Gary Ind, plus the $30. some dollars you pay for toll just getting through Ohio.
But it sure is pretty country. The Ridgeway rifle club is right on the way also.
I would leave the Camper at Dingmans Ferry at the National Forrest camp grounds. Bring some fishing poles with you. :)
And when you get done up there swing south east on 81 for a spell and stop at Friendship Indiana.

Would be a good thing if the mods would make this and the NRA Classification threads a sticky to maybe get some folks participating..

Kenny I think it was none other than Brian Chilson who shot a scope record there....first time on paper

South of there, not far from Altoona.

I think brother Brian set some but another fella set some scope records there also. Don I agree on the sticky.

Looking at maps it seems that Reade is about as far south of 80 as Ridgway is north. For me, coming from NH the distance is pretty close about 520 miles or so.
We need to be at Ridgway to run the shoot on the 26th of July and be back there for the 23rd of August.
I've been toying with the idea of spending August shooting rifles in PA. Between Reade and Ridgway I could certainly get my fill of 1000 yd shooting. I'd probably drag along a couple of modern rifles and perhaps try out the the Hunter class silhouette and long range silhouette at Ridgway.

Sounds like a good plan Craig.

I would like to attend matches at Ridgeway and Reade. They are only a little over 600 miles from me, but to get there one has to go through some of the worst traffic through Chicago and Gary Ind. and on east. Matches at Perry, Alma, Cadillac, and Grayling are through the same Maze.

Mr. Leadpot sir,,, how's the traffic if one dropped to Peoria, then to Bloomington, and east on 70? I'm looking at this on google maps, and it looks like could whip from here to brotherinlaws place, spend a day with them and be there to Reade the next day.. This could be in the realm of possibility if things break around here like it looks like they might..

Don.

When I made the trip back from CPA I came back that way. I picked up 39 at Bloomington. It is a hour longer trip going that way but you don't have the mess at Gary and Chicago plus the toll's.
Coming from your way I would take 80 to 39 south in Illinois. It's a lot better road also then staying on 80 all the way especially pulling a fifth wheel.

Well when you guys make the trip you can drop your anchor here and stay a spell. You know where I live.
Heck I might even follow you out just to get out of here.

Had a great match yesterday. The shooters decided to shoot the 45 round "Palma Course" for the first time rather than the usual 30 round course. Beautiful day with subtle conditions you really had to watch. We might try to get an early spring match date as well as this 2nd weekend in August next year. Here are the preliminary results. 9 shooters this go round. 146286
