Gents:

Finally got a chance to test my latest bullet mold - a Lee 533- 410M mine base MZ slug sized to .533. Was PP using copy paper 1.5 wraps, shot with 70 gr 777 from about 75 yds w/ TC yellow lube over a really sophisticated shooting bench - my pickup hood with a few shovels full of dirt in a dog food bag. Gun a 54 TC hawken 54 purchased in '87 w/ stock sights, modified barrel bedding (as orig bedding was terrible!!). Pics are the 2 shots made to date. Square is 2". More testing needed, but too cold in MN right now for more.

Well, I'd say you are on your way to some fine success! More shooting & testing the better.

I'm curious if your rifle is a 1-48 twist? I'm gearing up to shoot my 54 cal Lyman Trade rifle with a PP bullet. What is the length of the bullet that you shot? I just sized some Hornady Great Plains bullets to .532 the length is just over .80. Waiting for my shoulder to heal before I can complete my own test.

Looks like it shoots good, though.
