I have been accumulating the old winchester self loading rifles for a few years.I have a few in various stages of neglect/disrepair and rusted .These were mostly good for a few parts ,but no where near collectable ....So this what I done
the first one a 1910 is in 44 auto mag ,#2 a 1907 is 338-223,#3 a 1907 in 30 carbine ,#4 a 1910 is now 360 Dan wesson and can use 357 mag ammo also.

The barrel on the 44 AMP was re bored and chambered ,the 338-223 I made a new 26" and fitted to the receiver and chambered ,the 30 carbine I relined with a p17 I turned down and the 357 barrel was a new blank fitted to the receiver .Learned a lot about these rifles .I did draw file and polish the old parts but still had pits so I had them cerakoted to hide most of the sin in socom blue .
Cheers Peter

Nice collection! The only one I ever saw was in .401wsl in about 85% condition. Someone found it in their attic and gave it to my brother.

You've worked magic with your updated WSLs. I really like that you've kept them very original appearing while making them very usable! I have my grand father's in .401, that he purchased new.

You know what I hate about owning lots of different guns?

Whenever I get a chance to go shooting, it's hard to decied which one to take with me. It's like having alot of kids that you love but, you can only take one or two of them with you at one time. The others wait at home, crying through the window as you drive off.

There's been times in the past when I took as many as six guns with me out to the desert for plinking and ended up just shooting my sidearm and one of the others. The rest just sat in the truck while I stomped around in the desert.

A loose analogy would be a woman who has a closet full of shoes, but she can only wear one pair at a time.

You're a lucky man blackbahart. You've got some good looking kids there.

Wow, that is just amazing.
How strong is the action on those? I wonder if a guy could just load the factory chambered 351 a little hotter to get some decent performance out of it?
To bad it's not a .357 barrel, a 357 AutoMag would be great.
I saw a couple of these at an auction a few months back, but the price went higher than what I brought with me.

That one on the left in the second picture don't look like a rifle. It looks like one of those nasty Browning A5 or Rem mod 11. The only thing worst would be if it was a 16 ga.:kidding: Nice collection.

you are right ,the far left is a 12 gauge Winchester model 1911 kill me quick .Its the one they quite making in 1926 that loads by pulling the barrel back, when pushed down it kinda points at the head of the operator and when the s/g is worn it can/will sometimes discharge and results are not favorable.

I have fired it to test for function and pulled out the bolt so it won't now .Never know if somebody gets their hands on it and try to use it without understanding how not to use it ;(

The 351 and the 357 max are pretty well on par.The bottom rifle is actually a 358 stainless barrel that we fitted and coppied profile and and the wounderful fine threads that hold on the forend nut and silver soldered the front sight sleeve and under lug on

Found a nice carry case for the wsl rifles .I was in the local gun shop and they have a few leg of mutton cases so the price was right ,nice and excellent fit for them

Don't think I've ever seen one of the 351's or the larger caliber that they made in the flesh. Great gunsmithing and very nice wood on the reworked ones and your collection looks great as well. Frank
