I have an 8mm-06AI and just 50 150gr bullets(usually load 4350 under 200gr bullets). Loaddata for the reg 8-06 lists 3031 as the fastest powder, my Lyman 49th shows them side by side on the burn rate chart and my buddy will give me as much 2230 as i want. Could i start somewhere round 15% under max and work from there or is this idea dead in the water? My 4350 gives up bout 500fps by the data, but i aint gonna buy a lb of new powder for 50 shots

in the standard 8mm-06 using the hornady 150gr interlock 2230 starts at 47.7grs and stops at 53.0grs
2852 to 3014 fps.
the only powder that is a better fit here is AA-2700 which is fairly close to 4350.
for 50 rounds I'd just go with the 53grs load in your improved case and shoot away.

and does your buddy need another friend?
I could use about 40 pounds of AA-2230..:kidding:
