I've been sitting on two 8 lb'ers of wc820 for several years. No particular reason but now I want to use it for some loads in a couple of guns. I seem to remember that most of it is close to AA#9 but some lots are faster and some slower.

Does anyone know the range that Lot# 47320 falls in? Is AA#9 data appropriate as a guide? I plan to start low and work up. Also, does wc820 require magnum primers?

Yes, a lot of WC820 is AA#9 speed and there no problem to use that data on the slower lot and work up.

There is a batch that runs at AA#7 speed so, as a test, start with a #7 load (1.0 gr less) and check the primer, use a pistol primer, if possible because you'll be able to see pressure signs faster. The primer will crater around the firing pin, at to high pressure. If you can go 10% over the #7 data, then our pretty safe to start with #9 data.

I've found a noticeable difference in accuracy using mag. primers. Mags being more accurate.

the fast 820 I had back in the day all had "wc820f" on the jug.

Sorry I don't have any experience to compare it to AA powders, but my jugs run about 2% faster than H110 for 300 BLK supersonic loads. As an example, I load 19.8 gr of H110 versus 19.4 gr WC 820 for 110 VMax'es, both going around 2375 fps. Powder was purchased from gibrass.com and did not have the "f" on the label.

Thanks for the responses. After posting I tried the search function(never had much luck before) for wc820. It worked! Next time I will do a search before asking for help.

Lots of info on wc820. Even some about the specific lot # I have. I think the 2 jugs I have will last longer than I will but I do need to order some mag primers. I'm not even going to try regular primers with this powder.

I do have one pound of H110 to compare to. I'll load a few rounds with that and put both across the chrono.

Do a websearch for WC820, and your lot number. Example: WC820 Lot 47323. The lettered prefix on your lot number is the packagers ID IIRC, so omit that. This will take you to people using the same powder you have. There's even a CB thread listed for mine!

I have been loading WC820 lot#47320 using AA#9 data in 30 carbine, 357 mag, and 44 mag with good success.

I agree that it seems to like magnum primers.....dale

Ditto wordsmith here. 300 Blk with 150gr jacketed, 16.5gr of H110 and 16.0gr of WC820. I was told by Jeff @ gibrass that my 16# was very close to H-110. I do not have the Lot number handy.

I am actually going to give it a try in my 32-40. There was some data publish a few years ago with leverguns.

Well! I just found a box of 1K CCI 350's that I didn't know I had. I'm going to go ahead and load up some .45 Colt using the wc820 and a few using H110. Some of each with .45-270-SAA and a 300 gr boolit from a mold I got from Mountain Molds back when Veral was unavailable. I'm wanting to try out a 5 shot conversion that just came in last week. I don't plan to come close to stressing it.

I have been working on my stash of WC820 powder that i bought about 20 or so years ago , it works excellent in every firearm that i use it in about 6 calibers from 22 hornet to 454 Casull that 296 or H-110 is used for with excellent results !
My lot # are 47323 and 47277 , i use AA#9 data for both lots.
