Does anyone have experience with this slug? Is it any good? I'm looking at a used NEF in 375 win. To shoot cast. Want to start cheap, but in my search of the forums, I don't see anyone shooting the Lee design. Tnx for any help.

I've been using it as cast (.377) from Lyman #2 alloy and lubed with Lee liquid alox. I shoot it in my Marlin 336 that's been rebored to 375 Winchester by Wayne York; it has a .376 groove. Loaded with Unique to about 1100', it will shoot under a fifty-cent piece at 50 yds.

Cousin uses the Lee in has custom barrel 38/55 Contender barrel. He is using Reloader 7. This is his favorite bullet.

works fair in several of my barrels not so well in another one , of note my old style mold ( that i traded away when i only had the one barrel that didnt like it ) cast smaller than one i bought ( new style ) when i found i had a couple of barrels that loved it , i'm guessing that at least the run i received mine from was designed for ye older fatter 38-55 barrels
it doesnt seem to like to be driven real hard but from low to medium levels ( in the barrels that like it ) it does great ,it makes a pretty fair plinking load in reformed 30-30 brass ( never ever run cases like this at the upper spectrum of pressure !!!! )

I have only one rifle in .38-55 (so far) and the lee works well as cast (.378). I mostly use spg lube. The rifle is a Miroku simulation of the Winchester hi-wall. I like it but have not done much development. This is largely with BP but I am in the process of getting a model 94 rebored and will use smokeless in that.

my experience is the same as Skipper's. I shoot them in a Win 94 38/55.

I've used them quite a bit with BP and smokeless in.38-55 and .375. They're really accurate at BP speeds.

I think the molds tend to be in the 0.380" range.

I've one of them that I don't use. I could be talked out of it pretty easy.

My Lee 38-55 mold drops at 381 and my Lyman sizer is .381, I lube and size for my Marlin cowboy .380 barrel and it shoots really good. I can ding an 18" steel target at 300 yards off hand at least half the time. It will do 3" at a 100 consistantly.

I have been shooting the Lee 250 grain for over a year. I shot fifty rounds of it yesterday. I size them to 380 which is the groove diameter of my rifles. I use 18 grains of 4759. It is a double cavity mold so you can produce a lot of bullets in a hurry but there are not very accurate, at least in my two rifles.

just got back from the range with my new h&r 1871 in 38-55. tried 3 loads, all 250 grain bullets - one lyman pb, one unknown gc, and the lee. all over 24 grains 4759. the lee shot the best, hands down (3-4 inch groups at 200 meters with a 4x cheapo scope). I've had the opposite results in my Winchester xtr big bore (375), which likes a lyman 265 gas checked round.

I use it in my 375 marlin, & C Sharps 1875 38-55 both lubed & pp'ed with good results.
