View Full Version : Does anybody have a Borchardt rifle with a paneled action?

I was wondering how the wood or rubber panels are held into the sides of the receiver.....are they just glued in? What did they used back in the day that would have held up?

They are attached with machine screws. If you get ahold of Janet Monk's book Sharps Rifles of Montana there's some great pictures of some original Borchardts.

Don, I have always wondered about that too. Are the screws blind from the inside into the thin wood?

I can't tell from the pictures, but it looks like possibly a screw from the inside in the breechblock mortise, and then a locator pin that might plug in a hole just above the trigger.
We need Kenny to jump in here, he has that one he got from Jack Odor, then we could get the straight skinny..

They are small headless set screws coming in from back of frame..small conical points on end.
