What do you use to get the moisture out of your air line (if you use a compressor type gun)? I had been using the little black plastic one that came with the HF gun, but it has apparently filled up and started to spit, because I got some slightly damp powder yesterday when spraying and my gun was making a sort of "rattling" sound at some times while using it. I assumed it was bubbling in the separator. I had ordered a backup separator some time ago from HF, because I like to have spare parts, and so I pulled it off the peg and popped it outta the bubble package and now can't get it to work.

It's a shiny, fancy lookin' sorta thing... but ain't it supposed to have threads on both ends????? :|[smilie=b:

What kind are you using? It's gotta be better than this one!!!!:evil:

I've had this one on the wall for more than 90 days, so it's mine now. https://s.yimg.com/ok/u/assets/img/emoticons/emo41.gif

I think mine is full too. I found this one. I hope it works.

I got the same one, yes it should have threads at both ends. From China with 'love'. Take it back it's defective. I took back a # of HF black & traded for red, no problem - I'd had it for 9 mo.

'Don't have a HF anywhere here. I'll just eat the 6+ bucks and learn to check my orders before shelving them!

This is what I use to remove water and regulate pressure at the gun.

For you guys that live in a swamp or very damp/humid areas, you will need an active desiccant drier to remove ALL the moisture. NOT just a simple filter!!! They are containers the air passes thru and the media inside attracts and holds the moisture. They work VERY well, but you have to change the media out on a very regular basis or you will end with soup in your drier and it will blow downline!

I doubt you will find anything of this pro function and quality at HF! Go to a store that sells and deals in commercial QUALITY air tools and accessories. (Watch out you do NOT get sold an oiler!)

I used these when living in MI very successfully. Put your filter/regulator(s) downstream of the drier.

I have or need NO driers on any of my 5 compressors here in the desert SW.

The little black plastic thing that came with it worked for 14 months. :-D I don't know what's in there, but I'd pay that every year. Maybe one of the $8-12 buck jobs will do it. I'll get one from Amazon and try it before I go too into the desiccant-packed ones. Or maybe I'll go with the Craftsman-style handheld.

Drain your air compresser to remove the water that builds up in them also. The air is heated as it is compressed as most of us know as it cools the tank will fill with water over time. I picked up a rather nice water separator with a drain that mounts to the wall. When I PC I hook a flex line to the wall mount unit then my air hose to my gun which still has the supplied filter on it. Oh my wall mount also has the pressure control so I am not getting a rush of air to the gun that carries more moisture.
For those that have a small compresser a long hose will help cool the air and if you leave a loop in the hose hanging it will tend to let the water settle in the low spot.

Just get this one from Harbor Freight.
It is the same that came with the gun.
