Guys, I am thinking about putting a set of skinners on a 357 Marlin 1894 Carbine I have.

How are the sights and what front sight do you think would be good?

Thanks John

I have a set on my Henry Big Boy and I really like them.I also bought the tall brass front sight from them so I could file it down to what I wanted.

.

Skinner receiver peep sights are excellent, in use, materials, and workmanship.

Most, having a top-mounted sight body, will require a new front sight somewhat taller (about .100") than the issue front sight blade, to achieve zero.

Alternatively, the Skinner LoPro (which uses the same scope base receiver holes as the receiver sights) will usually zero with the issue height front sight blade.

While the LoPro has no provision for adjusting windage, because it's mounted directly over the bore's C/L, little or no windage adjustments are usually necessary to zero one.

But, should some windage adjustment be needed, moving the the front sight blade will usually handle it, w/o the front sight hanging radically off to one side.

(The most I've had to move a front sight for a LoPro windage zero was 1/16")

I have one on my Marlin 1894 357. With the standard front sight, it hits 2" high at 25 yards. I plan on putting a higher front sight on the rifle sooner or later but it's shootable for now.

I have a set on my 1894CS and I love them. My accuracy increased dramatically. I will measure the front sight. I had to go to a taller one and file it done slightly.
