If accuracy with a mild load in the .35 Whelen is something of interest, you may try the NOE 360-318HP and Unique.
I'll cut to the chase.......5 shots in .520" at 50 meters. Load was 17g of Unique, CCI-200 primer and Al's fine 360-318HP at 235g, Saeco 7 and sized to .359. The velocity was only 1550fps, but the accuracy is outstanding! 18g opened up the group to a mere .92" at 50 M.

My experience with the 35W is that 10 gr Unique 158 gr will get holes touching at 100 yards.

Do you use any filler in the cases to keep the powder in place?

I don't use fillers with the faster burning shotgun and pistol type powders, but have with powders in the 4759, 5744 and up range in the whelen with good effect.
There is a sticky on the use of fillers and the appropiate powders to use them with that is definitely worth reading if you haven't already done so.
I do try to settle the powder on the primer a bit when using the faster powders, but once i found the right load for MY rifle and boolit it was still minute of squirrel head at 100 yds.
whether i settled the powder or not. Does shoot a bit tighter if i take the time to tip the bbl. up before shooting though.
