Never been able to melt more than 30 lbs. at a time, and decided there's no better time than now for a new smelting setup. I picked up a new 20 lb. propane tank, new 23 jet natural gas burner and built a new stand to smelt on. I just thought I'd share the results.

That is a great setup. Where did you get the burner?

The burner is cool but I've seen those around. The stand is an awesome beast. Home made job? I bet that thing could support a couple ton if on solid concrete.

Thanks.
I had a bunch of mixed lots of lead laying around, and just got done melting some of them down. It filled the pot to around 2 1/2 inches from the top, when liquefied. I had the garage door, walk in door and a window opened. It's 10 below zero and the pot was over 750 F. Would have put more in, but I got nervous with that much weight on the first batch.

Yes, home made. I just finished it tonight. 2'' angle and 1 1/2 flat stock.

Life is full of "if only's". If only I had welding equipment and had welding skills. That is awesomely done

Now that is an efficient lead smelter. How do you keep temps down enough to smelt wheel weights without melting the zinc wheel weights? That sucker looks like it'll run a thousand degrees at the lowest setting.
