Possible to go from Heinie front sight cut to Novak?

I have a colt with a heinie front dovetail would like to have novak cuts becuase of the wider variety of options. Would a simple recut be possible or would it have to be welded and then cut.

I am not sure of the actual width of dovetail, but I also believe that the Novak's use a proprietary 65* dovetail.
