No,I am not,but I do love me flintlocks!
This evening I traded my Ruger 77RS with a Simmons 4.5-14X AO towards a .32 flintlock with a 42" long 3/4" barrel,Chambers lock, double set Davis triggers, iron mounted with some inlays.
I'll have to take some pictures after I pick it up.

Smartest thing you could ever have done. Shoot a good flint for a while and you'll be come a better shot with everything.

Learn to ignore the flash and focus on the follow thru. Keep your cheek down and shoulder in it. Too many guys are trying to look before the gun ever goes off...

Me too, I built a 32 flintlock back in the 70s and still enjoy it.

Never had much luck with buckshot so I cast for it.

I used it on groundhogs for a while, but eventually switched to a different single shot for that endeavor.

You'll have fun, 32's are addicting.

Madcaster:

No doubt about it, you're nutz and going through denial. Likely delusional thinking that smokeless powder is a passing fad, that a classic flintlock is actually a pretty nice looking rifle and expecting to have to put more effort in your hunting. Thought I was cured for a while and am now going through a relapse. Like many others I do not suffer from my insanity, I enjoy every minute of it. Good shooting have fun.

This is not my first flintlock, but you know,to me a synthetic stock has no craftsmanship to it,no handwork.
A wood stock,carving-whether incised or raised, engraving, inlays tastefully done, octagonal barrel, the fel of pride when just being given the privaledge of carrying one.....shall I go on?[smilie=1:[smilie=1:[smilie=1:

Madcaster, I understand. And ya ain't nuts!

Shooting nice "Rock-Locks" give one that certain satisfaction that can only be found in the hearts of true traditionalist's....it is in the blood, or DNA, as they say nowadays, but it's there to stay....Ain't a dadburn thing you can do about it either!

You are not nuts but for me I don't like flint locks I prefer cap locks and have several. I like my 32 and 36 caliber rifles very much.
Put a scope on my 36 caliber and shoot it at 200 yards now and when I get things where I want will not think twice about this distance. then will have to see if I can do it with open sights on my other 36 caliber. I have aging eyes so I cheat when I need to

That is beuterous! I have to go, I am becoming emotional. If The Good Lord is a shooter I think he will have a gun like that.

Brother Richochett,
In the morning why don't you call Roy Carter,423-239-5634 and go visit him,he is the builder, and he is less than 20 miles from you!
About 2.5 miles off Exit 59 to the left on 36,take a right just across Sinking Creek,232 Royal Drive,Kingsport.....
Make a friend!

Keep in mind that WTSHTF and gunpowder as we know it and primers are not available you can still cast you own boolits and make your own gunpowder (Charcoal, sulphur and saltpeter) while all the fancy modern guns including ones using persucusion caps are just something to look at and remember you will still be able to defend your self and put meat on the table.
