Got a new 7.5" SBH a few months ago and have been shooting a NOE 265gr FP/GC cast with COWW air cooled and sized to .432 and tumbled with Lee alox. ( gun sluggs at .431) It seems to like 21gr of IMR 4227. I noticed 9gr of Titegroup shoots much cleaner than 18-21gr of 4227 and 2400? Should I be using Mag primers with those two?
Also, would you guys hunt deer with air cooled coww or would you soften it up some with some soww? ( guess I would need to add some tin also )
One last thing, someone gave me almost 8# of SPP 210. It should work good in my Win 94 30/30 but what about the .44?
Fairly new to reloading/casting, so any input would be great. THANKS

What kind of accuracy are you getting? Any leading? I have a NM SBH also, but with the 4 5/8 inch barrel. Generally you size the boolit to the cylinder to get the best accuracy and no leading. Mine loves .430 sized boolits. I have 200 gr RFN, 240 gr swc, 310 gr. WFN. and 320 gr WFN. I get best accuracy from the 240 gr, and the 310 gr. All are sized .430. Good luck. Others will be along with more experience.

NO, the gun is perfect. use the 310 Lee with 21.5 gr of 296 or H110. Fed 150 primer. Water drop WW boolits.
Dump the Alox, make Felix or buy LBT soft blue. No 4227's.
The 265 will work fine but will need 22 gr of 296. .432" is great.
The .44 is hard to beat and hard boolits work.

Thanks for the info. Accuracy is pretty good for me, ( about 2" at 50 yards)but could improve.( first .44 mag) I just picked up some H110 so we'll see how it works for me.....I slugged the bore and I should have slugged the cylinder. Anyway thanks for the info.

I missed something in your post. You said SPP 210, those are Fed LR primers, do not use them in a revolver. They are higher and can slam fire against the recoil plate if you can even rotate the cylinder. Even if you deepened the pockets, they have WAY too much pressure for a .44.
The reason I do not use 4227 in the .44 is the powder will act funny as your gun warms. Kept cold it works but caused me too much trouble.

I'm shooting the same bullet as 44man in a super redhawk pushed with h110.

If a .432" will slide into the cylinder throats from the front with finger pressure, you are good to go! If not, I would be glad to assist in correcting the throats to .4325" which will facilitate shooting the .432" without the throats sizing them down before they even make it out of the cylinder.

I'm sorry I should have been more clear. I was referring to "Swiss SPP 210 powder". I was given 8# of the spp 210 and am looking for some way to use it. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with it in a .44 mag?
Will be casting more 265gr today if I dont get to cold....

I hear you use the same load data as 4198.
