nose length for Ruger Single Seven

Hi There-

A newbie here.

I have a pair of Ruger Single Sevens in 327 Federal and am looking for mold recommendations. I prefer to crimp in a crimp groove and in order to fit my Single Seven cylinders the distance from crimp groove to meplat has to be .30in or less.

I ordered a 311316 clone at .313 dia from Accurate Molds which will fit, but am looking for a bullet of about the same weight without the gas check for everyday use.

Saeco #322 118 gr RNFP looks about right but the nose length is not listed anywhere I can find. Anyone have one these molds that they could measure, please?

I have a Lyman 313631 mold which has a nose length of about .28 and a Lyman 311008 which has a nose length of about .34. I am currently shooting the Saeco #325 and the 313631 with good success. Anyone using the 311008 in the Single Seven? If so, how is it working out? What other bullets are working for you guys?

If you will be using .327 brass, Tom has several bullets with short nose length which are suitable.

If you will be using .32 H&R Magnum brass, you have lots more options.

I bought one of the NOE 115 grain SWC's. It looks like a midget 358-429 and just barely fits the Single 7 cylinder when crimped in the crimp groove. He still has some in stock, if you are interested. I have not had much of a chance to test this one yet, but I have high hopes.
