Bought a Martini project rifle that was pretty well pouched ,did a major face lift ,new barrel and wanted to try something different and picked up a Boyds carved uninletted thumb hole blaster stock
Looks a bit unconventional but is very comfortable to shoot Cheers

How does an Aussie boomerang wind up in British Columbia!

He tried to leave, but came back.

It is a beautiful rifle, but I would make the stock tenon fill the socket as closely as possible, harden it with superglue in the end grain, and glass bed it, to give the most possible resistance to sideways movement. Shooting should be fine, but if it suffered an accidental sideways stress, that might stop you being left with a barreled action and a small wooden stud in your hand. Drilling and gluing a couple of thick bamboo knitting needles into each arm of the stock wouldn't hurt either. I once brazed a small steel ring onto the end of the lever, and inserted a stud to click under the steel grip cap. It is fine for normal use, but if you wanted to use it with gloves in cold weather (where you have cold weather), you could attack a cord or thong loop.

My sister, in a family house clearance, threw out a small boomerang presented to me in the 1960s by relatives in Australia, and made by Bill Onus. I only found out recently that he was a noted artist and aboriginal rights activist, and they are quite collectible. I could never make it come back, though.

I like it. Mine is a bit unconventional as well, though it doesn't have a thumbhole stock. Don't forget to let us know how it shoots.

Really like that stock, Boyds are great I have two of their thumbholers and the wood is top notch; love your unconventional take on a classic, if you like it that's all that matters. Really nice work sir.got any cast loads worked up for her?

That is different, but in a good way.

Well for the boomerang it was a gift from a friend who went to queensland university in 2012 student exchange .

The rifle groups 3 shots under an inch which is great for hunting. The scope is a k4 weaver in tally rings and modified base and I just used factory win ammo ,didn't load anything yet .

I also put the same type of stock in LH on a #4 lee enfield barreled to 240 flanged nitro for a friend .The boyds laminate is a very dense material and found it easy enough to work with to make the tenon and the fit I achieved is tight .I fitted the pistol grip area to fit my hand ,the way it came was not quite right for me .I did seal the end and the draw hole with accuglass to prevent any moisture from soaking in
Cheers Peter
