Hi,
I'm looking at building one of these and was wondering if anyone reloads for the 300 Win. Mag.???

I've reloaded 1000's of .308 for my battle rifles but never a "belted" Magnum?

Hi,
Well, I found out that the XLR Chassis is only made for the Tikka T3 in 223 and 308!

I'm still wondering if anyone reloads the 300 Win.Mag.?

H 4831, 73.8 grains, lighted by Fed Mag primer, and topped off with 180BTSP Sierra Game King shoots 1/2 moa at 100yds in 2 pencil barrel Rifles I built, just over 1 inch at 200yds. This is out of hunting rifles, I built on Mk X actions back in 1990, Leupold bases and rings, good Burris scopes, both glass bedded.,

Hi,
Thanks Gentlemen! Yea, SAKO 85, I'm droolin on the keyboard!

There is one option at the new Manners Stock that are being made, good quality and a little better price than McMillian!

Jeez,74 grains! That thing must take off like a freight train, as I'm only using 41 gr. in a LC brass 308!

Here's a pic of what I'm looking at. With a good brake I may even be able to shoot it!

The stock can take the CDI bottom metal and the AI mags!

Yes, I reload for 300 WM. Used bullets from 125 to 200g. Heavier bullets best demonstrate the potential of this cartridge (180, 190, 200). You'll use slower powders than with 308 (typically). My advice would be to use FL sizing dies properly adjusted to bump the shoulder back enough for reliable chambering. Bump them back to spec and brass life will suffer. Also, find the lands and start load development there (working up, of course). Then find best OAL for accuracy. I don't hot rod mine as I get a little concerned as the margin of safety gets smaller. However, the better performing loads seem to be closer to the max than min... Especially with the slower burning powders.

I used the Accuracy load straight out of the Sierra manual with the 200gr SMK and Reloader 22. Shot so good out of my Sendero that I never bothered looking for another one. For hunting I switched out the SMK for the 200gr game king and killed elk.

Hi,
No,not yet! I'm still doing some research and I want to call Tom Manners and see what options/money is involved.

The other fly in the ointment is I am left handed. Tikka (or Beretta) does not import the HB tactical or varmit in LH so will have to go with a T3 Lite or rebarrel?

The Tikka T3 Lite barrels are hammer forged and have a solid reputation for accuracy, so I'm willing to try it!

Oh yea, thanks for the load info, sounds like a very interesting cartridge!!!
