Went to a gun show and then a couple of shops, one of which has a lot of old reloading stuff today. AMong some other little treasures, I came home with an old Ideal 225415 that is a hollow point version, not sure if that is from the factory or after market but it is professionally done if after market.

I have been playing with varous cast loads in .22 Hornet. Both my Hornets are the old twist and this bullet may be a bit too long. I have a mor recent single cavity of this same bullet, but have only ever shot it in a .22 Savage Highpower.

Anyone shoot the 225415 in old slow twist .22 Hornets?

I have two Hornets, a Ruger #3 and a Winchester Low Wall. The Ideal 225415 shoots very well in both of them. Mine isn't hollow pointed, but that shouldn't affect the accuracy.

The Low Wall is the old 16" twist; I think the Ruger may be 14".

Thanks for that information. My 219 is a 25 yard squirrel rifle so far, but is as accurate as I can shoot with some loadings, the Bator with 2400 goes in one hole at that range. My other Hornet I haven't scoped yet, but first range sessions with the open sights indicate it may be even better. I'll be interested how this one shoots.

I shoot the 225415HP in the Hornet, .222 and .223. The .222 seems to like it the best. The .223 is partial to the 22-55-SPHP and the Hornet thrives on the 225438HP.

The HPs seem to be a little more accurate,IMO and I attribute this to shifting the GC of the bullet farther back but the devastating affect of the HP on pests makes it well worth the casting./beagle
